Piotr Łakomy
One All, 2021
In his artistic practice, Piotr Łakomy considers the relationship between architecture, urban structures, domestic environments and always his own studio in Posen and the human body. The sculptural works and architectural interventions negotiate the ambivalent relationships between the ever-changing environments surrounding people. He focuses on industrial ruins as well as urban gardens and balconies. Skin and façade as structures that equally provide support and connect people and architecture are particularly in the foreground here. Instead of figurative representations, Piotr Łakomy works on the level of proportions and their effect on individual perception.
This is also the case in his Jahresgabe One All for the Kunstverein Braunschweig, in which he uses the proportions of the human body on a scale of 1 to 10 as the starting point for a free finding of form. In this way, loose and strict thinking combine, or as Piotr Łakomy himself puts it: "It's a bit like searching for a human being in dehumanized principles."
