Lisa Seebach
Tidying Up The Balance, 2019
In her sculptures and installations Lisa Seebach (*1981 in Cologne, lives in Potsdam) succeeds in translating the factual into fragile constructions of line, mass and weight. In often humorous and seeming constellations, the artist allows the characteristic properties of the objects she depicts to contrast with the materials used.
Thus, in her two works made available for the Kunstverein Braunschweig as a Jahresgabe, she directs the viewer's attention to the potential beauty of basically disdainful extension cords that are seldom looked upon favorably. Instead of keeping them in the technology corner of the basement, they are given a place of honor on the wall, shaped in steel and with ceramic plugs at both ends: the matte line connects two shiny volumes - in between, not a tangle, but an elegant sweep.
