OrderLennart Koch’s artistic practice explores the interplay between personal and preexisting material, creating a form of fiction through their careful juxtaposition. By quoting a wide range of media—from painting, photography, and text fragments to film stills and objects—his own identity blends with external elements, opening up the potential for a new narrative.
The annual edition Box (Rimbaud 1), 2025, is a transparent Plexiglas box. The back panel is printed with a detail from Henri Fantin-Latour’s 1872 painting Coin de table, showing only the faces of Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine, cropped from a group portrait of several poets from the literary scene of the time. Inside the box is a DVD case resting on a black print with white text. The DVD is a copy of Agnieszka Holland’s 1996 feature film Total Eclipse, which depicts the love affair between Rimbaud (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and Verlaine (played by David Thewlis). The print is a screenshot of a website displaying a letter from Verlaine to Rimbaud.
