OrderKAYA (founded 2010, living and working in New York) is a collaborative art project by New York-based artists Kerstin Brätsch and Debo Eilers. As KAYA, the participating artists combine their respective independent working methods to create a multimedia work that attempts to push painting and sculpture to their limits. A recurring motif in KAYA's work is the exploration of youthfulness and youth culture through themes like fashion, gender performance, and physical aging processes.
In the summer of 2019, several series of works by KAYA were on view as part of the GROUPS exhibition at Villa Salve Hospes. As annual gifts, KAYA made a series of unique pieces. Collaboratively created drawings on digital prints of collaged photographs, paintings, and text fragments attest to KAYA's interest in ritual practices and childlike aesthetics. A portrait of the artists appears on several works in the series - sometimes as a large or reduced photo, sometimes as an outline drawing, as in a coloring book for children.
