OrderEnver Hadzijaj’s drawing practice operates in the tension between figuration and abstraction. Using reduced yet highly concentrated means, he investigates the depiction of inner states and emotional resonances. The use of black, red, and white establishes a clear visual economy, in which line and surface alike serve as carriers of psychological tension. His visual language, reminiscent of fashion sketches, combines gesture and control, intuition and construction. A central motif is the relationship between inner perception and outward appearance. Bodies, faces, and organic fragments become spatial metaphors for sensation, memory, and self-image.
Hadzijaj’s works are, among other things, connected to a childhood memory of his relationship with his older sister. “Near our house there was a gas station, where she sent me to buy her red Gauloises—and candy for me,” he wrote. “That morning we talked and wondered why everything had become so difficult.” Even the moment when he observed his sister putting on makeup crystallizes in his drawings into poetic reflections on intimacy, identity, and the fragile balance between inner life and outer appearance.
