Caroline Hake
Candy (Special Edition)
In her photographs, Caroline Hake depicts the glossy worlds of popular leisure, advertising, and entertainment culture. The series Candy comments on the mechanisms of our seductively colorful consumer world, documents the psychology of our advertising-generated worlds of desire. Illusion and disillusionment are always close together in her works: enticingly lollypop-colored, the photographs turn out to be detailed shots of polished car paint surfaces, the supposed celestial bodies and water reflections as disdainful light reflections of trade fair neon lighting.
