CHARLOTTE MARIA KÄTZL & CONRAD VEIT, CHRISTINE SCHULZ

Jun 11 – 14, 2026

Exhibition of the 2025 IDEE and ABDRUCK Fellows

The 2025 Fellows

By awarding the IDEE and ABDRUCK fellowships to Charlotte Maria Kätzl & Conrad Veit and to Christine Schulz, the Braunschweigische Stiftung honors the independent concepts of these artists with strong regional ties as well as the high artistic quality of their work.

IDEE Fellowship: Charlotte Maria Kätzl (*1993) and Conrad Veit (*1987) are an artist duo who have been collaborating since the beginning of their art studies in 2014. From 2021 to 2022, they completed their Meisterschüler year together under Prof. Thomas Rentmeister at the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK). In their cinematic stagings and installations—using analog film (e.g., Super 8 or 16 mm), performance, and costume—they tell stories of hybrid figures. With playful irony, these figures appear as beings between genders, between human and animal, plant and fungus, exploring and interacting with the spaces and places that surround them. Their films have been shown, among other venues, at the Berlinale, at Deichtorhallen Hamburg, and at numerous film festivals.

ABDRUCK Fellowship: Christine Schulz (*1961) studied Fine Arts at the Braunschweig University of Art from 1996 to 2003. In 2003 she received the Meisterschüler distinction from the artist and then professor of art John Armleder. Starting from the medium of photography, Christine Schulz develops sculptural installations in which her own and appropriated visual worlds intertwine through projections, become transparent, or dissolve. The artist—who presented an installation at the Steintorbrücke (Braunschweig) as part of the Lichtparcours 2024 and whose works have been shown in numerous exhibitions nationally and internationally—is interested in the formation and overlapping of image layers, in multiplicity, disparity, and transparency. The ABDRUCK fellowship offers her the opportunity to further explore these characteristic aspects of her artistic practice through printmaking techniques.

The exhibition marking the conclusion of the fellowship period, accompanied by a related public program, offers a more comprehensive insight into the fellows’ artistic results and developments.
