ARI BENJAMIN MEYERS (*1972 in Long Island, New York, lives and works in Berlin) presents his latest film Marshall Allen, 99, Astronaut in the newly opened cinema in the Remise. The film is dedicated to the 100-year-old saxophonist Marshall Allen, who leads the Sun Ra Arkestra. In the film, Meyers explores how Allen responds to two original compositions by him. Through the music, Allen engages in an intimate conversation about spontaneity, collaboration, and the challenges of rehearsing. The film tells a musical and visual story that honors both Allen's life and Sun Ra's visionary art.
