How do we get together
Non-verbal Workshop, Konzert and Performance by Valentina Karga and TO22 and Stephanie Benze (Motus, Performance) and Yamen Mekdad & OJK (Sounds).
Aiming to positively occupy Frankfurter Platz in the western ring area, a project with the artist Fatoumata Diabaté (*1980 in Mali) was realized on the initiative of T022 productions and with the support of WRG Studios. On September 11, it invited passers-by to be portrayed at Frankfurter Platz. With references to Malian photo studios from the 1950s and 1960s, an open-air, stage-like backdrop with props was installed, in which photography as a performative act comes into focus. The results are presented in an exhibition n the Remise of the Kunstverein Braunschweig.
Fatoumata Diabaté: The artist studied at the Center d’Enseignement Professionnel in Vevey, Switzerland and at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Art et de Design, Nancy. The works of Fatoumata Diabaté have been shown internationally, including the Biennale of Photography in Bamako (2005, 2009, 2011, 2019), the Photo Festival in La Gacilly (2017) and the Dakar Biennale (2018). Le Studio Photo de la Rue will be activated for the first time in Germany as part of the exhibition following invitations from the Fondation Cartier, Paris (2018) and the Rencontres de la photo d’Arles (2019).
T022 productions: Under the label T022 productions, Tess Robin and Till Terschüren realize events, parties, and exhibitions in and outside of Braunschweig. Tess Robin got to know Fatoumata Diabaté in 2019 during a symposium at the HBK Braunschweig.
WRG Studios: The WRG Studios are a space founded by Dominik Kuschmieder and Till Terschüren for art, production and discourse in a self-managed studio building in the western ring area of Braunschweig nearby Frankfurter Platz.
Artist: Fatoumata Diabaté
Project Team: Tess Robin und Till Terschüren (T022 productions) supported by WRG Studios
This collaboration is part of the project Es sollten viele sein und sie müssen nicht zusammenpassen, 2021, which rethinks the roles of artists, curators, and audiences.
It revolves around the question: What can the Kunstverein do for you and your community?
